NEW Single Origin Coffee: Guatemala El Aguajal Estate



Introducing a seasonal Single Origin Espresso Guatemala coffee from the farm of El Aguajal Estate.

The farm sits in the stunning Patzum micro-region of Chimaltenango, located to the West of Guatemala City, very close to the famous Lake Atitlan. Interestingly, the farm is the only specialty coffee estate within Patzum, despite its ideal weather and altitude.

The estate has an incredibly rich history and passionate leadership. It was founded in 1876 by Mr. Carlos herrera, ex-president of Guatemala and Great Great Gradand father of the current owner Dariush Echeverria, now a fifth generation grower. Gairush is passionate about quality, sustainability and family heritage. The estate is beautifully forested with native trees and the coffee is 100% shade grown with "Bird Friendly" and Organic certifications.

The coffee is a fully washed lot with dry fermentation. During harvest, ripe cherries are picked, immature green cherry is either hand sorted and mechanically removed. Once sorted, only primate red cherry is sent to pulpers. Pulped parchment is then fermented for 24072 through dry fermentation process. Afterwards, the clean, washed parchment is sent for drying.

Tasting notes: Toffee, chocolate and sugared almond aroma, medium red apple acidity, med-high creamy body, notes of cherry ripe, brown sugar, fudge and cashew with a sweet finish.
